Stand out on social media.
No Gimmicks.
Just powerful storytelling.

The fastest growing creators aren’t storytelling, they’re storyLIVING

If you haven’t seen, every once in a while (typically when waiting for a flight) I will open up the question box on my Instagram and ask, “Tell me what you do and I will give you your next best content idea.”

Here are some of those submissions

Today I want to boil down this strategy into one word and show you creators who have used this strategy to grow well past 100,000 followers in the last year.

The strategy to grow on social media in one word is…

    PROOF

You can even see it in my advice above. The ideas I offer these creators to BE THE PROOF by embodying the aspiration identity of your followers (which is who you already are)

    • Don’t tell people who to make weight loss fun, go have fun and show how it helps you lose weight or maintain your current goal weight.
    • Show how you currently make healthy choices and live a healthy life which was the key to having your period and eventually having kids
    • Sign up for a run and document the process
    • Show how you run your business as a 1-person biz

    Why is this so important?

As consumers, our bullshit meter is higher than it’s ever been.

That’s why I don’t even think storytelling is the most effective kind of content you can make.

I’m saying this of all people!!

    Can you believe it?!

    Here’s what’s better than storytelling.

    StoryLIVING!

Now don’t get me wrong, I think sharing your past experiences is still valuable.

Letting you know that I worked as a civil engineer in NYC and had a quarter life crisis then rode my bicycle across America which woke me the fuck up and made me realize I couldn’t waste 40 years of my life spending 40 hours a week doing something I wasn’t passionate about which lead me to moving to Colorado to pursue my passions as a personal trainer and photographer is still a valuable story to tell.

But that’s like once a quarter-ish type stuff.

    What should you post everyday?

Let’s take a look at one of my most favorite creators right now, @happywithmeg

    Meg is a running coach.

    Why?

    Because Meg is a runner.

What do 99% of runners have on their bucket list?

    Run the Boston Marathon.

    What does Meg do?

    Run the Boston Marathon!!!

    What content does she post?

Scroll through a took a look for yourself, but for your convenience, I’ll just give you the themes of the last 10 posts (as of May 1st)

    1. Some thoughts looking back on my first marathon
    2. Do you want to go on a beach run?
    3. Get Ready With Me for the Boston Marathon
    4. How I edit: Episode 8
    5. Photo dump
    6. Let’s talk about how I’m feeling about marathons
    7. Going golfing for the first time
    8. How I prepped for the Boston Marathon
    9. Texts from her BF while she was running the Boston Marathon
    10. Come run a 3:33:33 Boston Marathon

    More notables:

    • Let’s go on a 7 mile taper run
    • What I’m doing at the gym during my taper period
    • 15 days out from the Boston Marathon

What did we just witness from Meg

Not a whole lot of Meg saying, “here’s what you need to do”

    It’s all, “here’s what I’m doing”

Meg is out here living her best damn life.

    Not for us.

    FOR HER!!

A 3:33 at the Boston Marathon!! LFG!!

She’s gonna look back on life and know she fucking SENT IT!!

    👏 SHE 👏 IS 👏 LIVING!!

And she is sharing the journey along the way.

    And we fucking love it.

    That is StoryLIVING.

What woman wouldn’t hire her as their run coach?!

Creators today spend too much time trying to prove to you how smart they are and how much they can help you instead of continuing to BE THE PROOF!

She’s not just a runner either.

She’s an athlete who loves learning new things, so we watch play golf.

She’s a content creator, so she shows us how she edits her videos.

The smart strategy here is 80% of her content is running focused because that is how she makes money.

But other parts of her get to shine through too.

    How fucking fun is that?!?!

If you want a further breakdown into this strategy and see more examples of creators who have does this, watch this YouTube video.

It’s your turn to join in on the fun

Go take a look at your vision board or wherever you keep your goals, write down what you are doing to make those things a reality, and start sharing the process with us.

    But be intentional like Meg.

80% of your content should be the embodiment of the identity you want your audience to become.

If I’m a therapist, I’m not teaching my audience how to become a therapist. I use therapy to become a wealthy entrepreneur and the worlds future best 40-year-old tennis player.

    Get it?

Who does your audience want to become?

It’s the same as who YOU are becoming.

    Share the journey.

And just in case you were thinking it, Meg’s ideal client isn’t thinking, “wow Meg isn’t very fast.”

Meg’s ideal client wishes they could run a 5k, let alone a marathon.

If you’re worried about sharing your process because you might fail, then you’re worried about your peers, not the people you can help, and that will keep you stuck forever.

I have two open spots for 1:1 coaching and I’ve made a few updates.

I believe content is the number 1 person growth tool therefore we are highly focused on two outcomes:

    1. Launching your core offer and making more money
    2. Using content as a tool manifest your dream life faster

With this new format, I added on one month to our commitment, but kept the investment the same (for now). That’s $1500 per month for 4 months.

If you are interested to see if we are a good fit, you can book a call here.

This call is for me as much as it is for you. Our container together has to be energetically profitable for both of us otherwise it will be draining for both us and I’m not interested in investing in containers that are not energetically profitable.

Hope to talk to you soon!

    Matt
